NBC Anchor Vicky Nguyen visited St. Louis to talk about her New York Times Best Selling memoir Boat Baby at the St. Louis County Library, which was brought to the community by the St. Louis County Library Foundation. A community event was supported by the Gateway Korea Foundation, OCA-Advocates St. Louis, Qui Tran of Nudo House, the St. Louis Vietnamese Community, and the Very Asian Foundation.
Prior to her author visit, Nguyen visited two area schools to talk to students about journalism and her journey from refugee to reporter. Every student and many teachers received her book as part of The May Book Project and supported by a Missouri Humanities grant.
